Mr. John Kaufmann

John Kaufmann is Senior Policy Analyst for the Oregon Department of Energy. John has led energy efficiency and renewable energy efforts with the Oregon Department of Energy for 25 years, helping to make Oregon a national leader. He headed Oregon's efforts to adopt the nation’s most energy-efficient residential and non-residential building codes, and received the American Planning Association Professional Achievement Award for getting 26 local governments in the Portland Metro area to jointly adopt solar orientation and solar rights ordinances. At various times he has managed the agency's Residential and Business Energy Tax Credit programs, public buildings programs, and new energy technologies efforts. Among other responsibilities, Mr. Kaufmann currently tracks oil and natural gas supply issues and was lead staff to the Portland Peak Oil Task Force, the first city to plan for peak oil. John has a Master's in planning from Hunter College-City University of New York.
