Kjell Aleklett is Professor of Physics at Uppsala University, Sweden, and leader of Global Energy Systems research and the Uppsala Hydrocarbon Depletion Study Group. He holds a doctorate degree from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and worked as a post-doctoral staff scientist, 1977-85, at the Natural Science Laboratory at Studsvik, Sweden. In 1986 he was appointed as associated professor at Uppsala University and later as full professor. In 1978-79 and again in 1983, he was invited to work with Nobel Prize winner Glenn T. Seaborg, Lawrence Berkley Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley, California, USA. His interest in the global energy situation started in 1995 and has since then grown dramatically.

Jeff Vail works in the trial department of the law firm of Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP in Denver, Colorado and is a contributor to The Oil Drum website. He is a former Air Force intelligence officer and Department of the Interior counter-terrorism analyst where he specialized in energy infrastructure protection. Jeff has spoken extensively on energy and infrastructure security to audiences including the FBI's Anti-Terrorism Advisory Committee, the Interagency Forum on Infrastructure Protection, the Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, the National Academy of Sciences, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Mr. Charles C Watson

Mr. Charles C Watson, Watson Technical Consulting

Chuck Watson is a specialist in the application of satellite remote sensing and computer models to natural and human hazards. He has published over 70 articles and papers in the fields of meteorology, engineering, computer science, satellite remote sensing, and emergency management. He is currently involved in several hurricane related projects, including improved real time hurricane damage forecasts and improving insurance models of hurricane damage, incorporating hurricane hazard data in the coastal planning process, and the potential impact of climate change on hurricane frequencies. Mr. Watson's academic background includes a BS in Electrical Engineering with minors in geophysics and computer engineering from the University of Maryland. In addition to hurricane related work, Mr. Watson has been involved in other natural hazard studies including tsunami and earthquake research, environmental impact assessments, and studies relating to the impact of terrorist attacks and weapons of mass destruction.

Michael Webber is the Associate Director of the Center for International Energy and Environmental Policy in the Jackson School of Geosciences, Fellow of the Strauss Center for International Security and Law at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, and Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, where he trains a new generation of energy leaders through research and education. Prior to joining UT Austin, Michael was a principal investigator for analytical studies of policy issues relevant to energy, innovation, the U.S. industrial base, and national security at the RAND Corporation. Previously, he was a Senior Scientist at Pranalytica, a startup making high-fidelity sensors for homeland security, industrial and environmental monitoring applications. Michael has published more than a dozen peer-reviewed scientific articles; been awarded two patents; and given dozens of lectures, speeches, and invited talks in the U.S. and Europe, including briefings for members of Parliament, senior decision makers in Government, and executives in the private sector.

Mr. Morey Wolfson, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter's Energy Office

Morey Wolfson is a Member of the the Board of Directors of ASPO-USA. Aside from his interest in the peak oil and gas topics, his primary work focuses on electricity policy issues in Colorado. He recently consulted with a prominent Denver architectural firm and the Colorado Energy Science Center. From 2000 to 2004, he was the Utilities Team Leader, Federal Energy Management Program, at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. From 1985 until 1999 he was the Executive Assistant to the Commissioners at the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. From 1970 to 1985 he served as a consultant to a wide variety of energy and environmental clients, primarily in the renewable energy and energy efficiency fields. He is a member of several industry and policy electric power committees, including the National Electricity Policy Council, the Committee on Regional Electric Power Cooperation, the High Plains Express, and several initiatives at the Western Governors' Association. He earned his Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning/Community Development from the College of Environmental Design at the University of Colorado.
