ASPO-USA ADVISORY BOARD
ASPO-USA receives advice and guidance from a volunteer group of recognized experts in energy, science, geology and business.
Co-Founder
Steve Andrews, ASPO Co-Founder and Senior Analyst - an energy consultant and freelance writer for 25 years, bases out of Denver, Colorado. He has followed the peak oil issue since the early 1980s, and since 1996 he has delivered an estimated 40 presentations on peak oil and natural gas at conferences and various educational forums.

Mr. Matthew R. Simmons - Houston based energy investment banker, founder and chairman of Simmons & Company International and author of “Twilight in the Desert”.
Vice-Chairman
Mr. Robert Kanner - Chairman of Cleveland-based Pubco Corporation, which owns a number of manufacturing enterprises, has wide ranging investments in the oil and gas industry. Bob organized our recent Challenge Grant Fundraising Campaign which has enabled ASPO-USA to hire its first full time staff and executive director.
Mr. Marvin Gottlieb - Chicago-based manufacturing industry consultant, businessman and philanthropist is President of Howland International, an Isle of Jersey-based Corporation actively involved in energy and oil reserves issues. Marvin was an early supporter ASPO-USA and helped organize our first conference in Denver.

Dr Colin J. Campbell - Oxford PhD petroleum geologist. Founder of ASPO and ASPO Ireland.
Dr. David C. Goodstein - PhD physicist and CALTECH Vice Provost. Author of “Out of Gas”.
Dr. Robert L. Hirsch - PhD physicist and principal author of the FEB 2005 SAIC report “The Peaking of World Oil Production”.
Dr. Albert A. Bartlett - PhD physicist at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Dr. Bartlett has presented “The Forgotten Fundamentals of the Energy Crisis” to over 1600 audiences in the US and abroad.
Dr. Walter Youngquist - consulting geologist and author of “GeoDestinies:The Inevitable Control of Earth Resources Over Nations and Individuals”.
Mr. Charles Hall - distinguished professor of environmental studies at State University New York (SUNY) in Syracuse. Developed the concept of energy return on investment in biological systems in the early 1980s.
Dr. Seppo Korpela - Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Ohio State University.
Mr. Leonel Castillo - former City of Houston Controller and US INS Commissioner.
Mr. Tim Jones - Austin Texas naturalist, environmental activist and former oil field mud logger. His website Ground Truth Investigations focuses on appreciation and preservation of North American natural resources and biodiversity.
Mr. Roger Baker - transportation and energy reform activist in Austin, Texas, where he hosts the radio program, “Right of Way”.
Mr. John T. Heinen - affiliated with the Post Carbon Institute, the Midwest Renewable Energy Association and the Community Solution, a program of Community Service, Inc. He is a Moderator/Administrator for Peak Oil News and Message Boards (http://www.peakoil.com/) and also moderates the Peak Oil forum for Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich at http://www.kucinich.us/.
Mr. Tom Whipple - a retired US government analyst who currently writes a weekly column on peak oil for the Virginia newspaper the Falls Church News Press. He also edits and distributes ASPO-USA’s weekly Peak Oil Review and daily Peal Oil Notes.
Mr. Chris Kuykendall - a state legislative nonpartisan staffer in Texas whose non-job focus is peak oil historianship.
Mr. John G. Howe - author of “The End of Fossil Energy” .
Mr. David Room - founder of “Energy Preparedness” and lecturer on energy issues.
Mrs. Rosalind Baldauf - Roz has worked in the private sector (nuclear, petrochem) and the federal/state/local public sector (Parish & State Gov’t.) in her home state of Louisiana and her adopted state, Texas. She has been an environmental activist and has served on the board of Texans United Education Fund for years. Roz attended last year’s Denver World Oil Conference and the 2006 ASPO 5 Conference in Pisa, Italy.
Frances T. “Sissy” Farenthold received her B.A. from Vassar College and her J.D. from the University of Texas. Sissy served in the Texas legislature, ran for Governor, and was the first woman to be nominated and voted on for Vice President of the United States. She was co-founder and chair of the National Womens’ Political Caucus, President of Wells College in New York, and former chair of the Institute for Policy Studies and the Rothko Chapel in Houston, Texas, where she practices law. She has served as a human rights observer in Iraq, El Salvador, Honduras, South Korea, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Cuba, and the former Soviet Union.
Scott Pugh a former nuclear submarine commanding officer who also served as dean of mathematics and science at the US Naval Academy. Since retiring from the Navy as a Captain in 2005 he has worked with Amory Lovins as Rocky Mountain Institute’s Military Principal to implement the strategies outlined in “Winning the Oil Endgame” and serves on the Defense Science Board DoD Energy Strategy Task Force. He lives in Annapolis, Maryland.
Sally Odland a former geologist and project manager, has worked in mineral exploration, oil & gas exploration, environmental remediation, and exhibit design. She currently administers a division of research geophysicists at Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University. She holds advanced degrees in Geology and Business Administration and has written a peak oil MBA dissertation, “Strategic Choices for Managing the Transition from Peak Oil to a Reduced Petroleum Economy”. http://www.ldeo.columbia.edu/~odland/
Morey Wolfson is an energy policy and utility regulatory analyst who serves as the Utilities Program Manager for Colorado Governor Bill Ritter Jr.’s Energy Office. Prior to his service to the Governor he was an independent consultant serving non-profit organizations and a Denver-based architectural practice specializing in sustainable design. For 14 years he was the Executive Assistant to the Commissioners at the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. For 4 years he served a utility expert at the USDOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Federal Energy Management Program. In 2004 he helped lead Colorado’s successful popular initiative that voted to institute a Renewable Portfolio Standard.
